Sri Lankan Dhal Curry

 Dhal Curry

Ingredients

  1. 250g dhal
  2. 2 tablespoon of curry powder
  3. 1 tablespoon of chili powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  5. 2-3 cinnamon pieces
  6. Salt as required
  7. 1 chopped raw chili
  8. 2 cloves of chopped onion
  9. A spring of curry leaf
  10. 3-4 small spices of pandan leaf
  11. 2 cloves of chopped garlic
  12. 1cup of thin coconut milk
  13. 2 cup of thick coconut milk

Instructions

  1. Wash dhal well.
  2. Put it into pot.
  3. Add salt as required and all ingredients except coconut milk.
  4. Now add 1 cup of thin milk.
  5. Cover it & cook the lentils until slightly soft.
  6. Now add thick coconut milk.
  7. Cook while stirring.(Do not stop stirring as the curry may freeze)
  8. Remove from the cooker after 5-10 minutes. (When the lentils are well softened)
